You hear Quality over Quantity, you hear “Make Quality Content” but nobody has ever told you what quality content is! Quality Content in the context of video or Quality Content on YouTube is about the experience and how people feel about the content.
OBJECTIVE QUALITY AND SUBJECTIVE QUALITY
For years I’ve been saying there are two types of quality, objective quality vs subjective quality. Objective quality is about the production and editing or streaming or all those things (lighting audio, sharpness etc.)
But then you have subjective quality, on camera presence, charisma, emotional connection, eye contact, pacing, the jokes landing, making people cry at the right time, its the experience.
WHAT IS A QUALITY VIDEO ON YOUTUBE?
A quality video on YouTube is a video I enjoyed watching or got value from in exchange for the time I spent on it. Quality content, quality videos are that simple. I don’t care about the lighting unless it’s a distraction. The audio can be a distraction for the experience for sure. Other than that, the odds are you are overthinking it. Focus on a quality experience.
VIDEO MARKETING AND QUALITY CONTENT
In the context of Quality Video on YouTube and Video Marketing as a whole I’m convinced that people are not looking at objective quality vs subjective quality.
You can throw all the money you want at objective quality and camera gear and all the time at editing and being fancy…. but if the subjective quality doesn’t connect with the viewer or you are overvaluing your interpretation of quality and not listening to the audience… you’re going to lose or not win to the extent that you could.
