How Would £250k A Month Feel? Why Thinking Big Changes Everything

Making a huge amount of money is a serious, life-changing event. But how much is too much? Or how much is just enough? These are questions that most business owners never seriously ask themselves, and that’s a problem. Because the size of your financial goals directly determines the strategies you pursue, the actions you take, and ultimately the results you achieve.

We’ve been programmed to “just be happy” when, and trust me on this, having more money will increase your potential to be happy. We need money. Those that say they don’t still work 40-hour weeks to go out and get it. Try living without it and see how that goes.

So if you’re going to do it, then you may as well go big. How would £250,000 a month feel? For most business owners across Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield, and the wider Yorkshire region, that number sounds almost absurd. But that’s exactly why it’s worth exploring.

Why Most Business Owners Think Too Small

In my business coaching across Yorkshire, one of the first things I notice is how small most business owners think. They set revenue targets that are marginally better than their current results. They aim for ten percent growth when they could be aiming for ten times growth. And the tragedy is that the effort required to grow by ten percent is often not dramatically different from the effort required to grow significantly more. The difference is in the strategy, not the hours worked.

Here’s what happens when you set a goal of £250,000 per month instead of £5,000 per month. Your entire approach changes. You can’t reach £250,000 a month trading time for money. You can’t reach it by serving one client at a time. You can’t reach it by doing everything yourself. The sheer ambition of the goal forces you to think differently about every aspect of your business.

You start thinking about systems rather than tasks. At £5,000 a month, you can handle everything personally. At £250,000, you need systems that scale, teams that execute, and processes that work without your constant involvement.

You start thinking about leverage. How can you serve more people without working more hours? Products, courses, group programmes, licensing, partnerships, these are the tools of leverage that only become relevant when your goals demand them.

You start thinking about value rather than time. Charging by the hour has an inherent ceiling. When you think in terms of the value you create rather than the hours you work, your pricing potential becomes virtually unlimited.

The Money Mindset Shift

For many business owners across Harrogate, York, Manchester, and Leeds, the biggest barrier to earning significantly more isn’t skill, talent, or market conditions. It’s their relationship with money itself.

The comfort zone trap. Most people have an internal thermostat for how much money they believe they should earn. When their income approaches this level, they unconsciously adjust their behaviour to bring it back to the familiar range. They stop marketing as aggressively, they turn down opportunities, or they find ways to increase their expenses. This thermostat was typically set during childhood and operates entirely below conscious awareness.

The guilt factor. Many business owners feel guilty about wanting more money. They’ve been told that money doesn’t buy happiness, that wanting wealth is greedy, and that they should be grateful for what they have. These beliefs create an internal conflict that sabotages their efforts to grow. It’s difficult to pursue something aggressively when part of you believes you shouldn’t want it.

The identity challenge. Your current income is tied to your current identity. Earning £250,000 a month would require you to become a different person in many ways, someone who makes bigger decisions, takes larger risks, leads teams, and operates at a level you’ve never experienced. That identity shift can feel threatening, which is why so many people unconsciously resist it.

What £250k A Month Actually Requires

Let’s break the number down to make it feel more tangible. £250,000 per month is approximately £3 million per year. That sounds enormous, but when you understand the business models that generate this kind of revenue, it becomes far more accessible than most people imagine.

Option one: High-value clients. If you serve 25 clients at £10,000 per month each, you’re at £250,000. That’s not an unreasonable number for a specialist consultancy, a marketing agency, or a digital marketing firm serving mid-sized businesses.

Option two: Products at scale. If you sell a £250 product to 1,000 people per month, you’re there. In the age of online courses, digital products, and e-commerce, reaching 1,000 buyers per month is entirely achievable with the right product and marketing.

Option three: Hybrid model. Combine premium one-to-one services with group programmes, digital products, and passive income streams. This diversified approach is how many of the most successful coaches and consultants build seven-figure businesses.

Option four: Business portfolio. Rather than one business generating £250,000, what about five businesses each generating £50,000 per month? This portfolio approach spreads risk and creates multiple income streams.

None of these models require you to work 24 hours a day. They require smart marketing systems, excellent teams, and the willingness to think and operate at a higher level.

The Practical Steps To Thinking Bigger

If you’re currently earning £3,000 or £5,000 per month and £250,000 feels impossible, here’s how to begin the shift:

Start with belief. You don’t need to believe you’ll reach £250,000 next month. You need to believe it’s possible for you at some point. Study the people who’ve done it. Understand their journey. Recognise that they started where you are now.

Reverse engineer the number. Break £250,000 per month into a business model that could theoretically generate it. What would you sell? To whom? At what price? Through what channels? Even if you’re years away from executing this plan, the exercise changes how you think about your business.

Upgrade your environment. Spend time with people who think big. Join mastermind groups, attend events, and connect with entrepreneurs who are already operating at levels above your current position. At K Frequency, we create environments where ambitious thinking is the norm rather than the exception.

Invest in yourself. The person you are today built the business you have today. To build a significantly larger business, you need to become a significantly more capable person. Invest in coaching, education, and experiences that expand your thinking and your skills.

Take bigger actions. Small actions produce small results. Start making decisions and taking actions that are proportionate to your bigger goals, even if they feel uncomfortable. A business coach can help you identify and take these bigger steps with confidence.

It Starts With A Decision

Every massive achievement in business started with a decision. A decision to aim higher, to refuse to settle, and to pursue something that most people would consider unrealistic. That decision doesn’t guarantee the outcome, but not making it guarantees you’ll stay where you are.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it realistic to aim for £250k a month?

While not every business will reach that specific number, the principle of thinking bigger is universally valuable. Setting ambitious targets forces you to develop better strategies, build stronger systems, and operate at a higher level. Even if you reach half of an ambitious goal, you’ll be far ahead of where modest goals would have taken you.

How do I overcome limiting beliefs about money?

Start by identifying the specific beliefs that are holding you back. Common ones include “money is hard to earn” and “wealthy people are greedy.” Once identified, challenge these beliefs with evidence to the contrary. Working with a business coach who understands mindset and NLP techniques can accelerate this process dramatically.

What business model generates the highest income?

The highest-income business models combine high value with scalability. This typically means offering premium services to high-paying clients whilst also developing scalable products or group offerings. The exact model depends on your industry, skills, and market. Daniel Latto helps business owners across Leeds and Yorkshire design business models optimised for maximum income potential.

Do I need to work harder to earn significantly more?

Not necessarily. In most cases, earning significantly more is about working smarter rather than harder. It’s about leverage, systems, pricing, and strategy rather than simply adding more hours. Many business owners who dramatically increase their income actually end up working fewer hours because they’ve built more efficient businesses.

How can business coaching help me earn more?

Coaching provides the outside perspective, strategic guidance, and accountability needed to break through income ceilings. A coach helps you identify the specific changes that will have the biggest impact on your revenue, whether that’s pricing adjustments, marketing improvements, business model changes, or mindset shifts. The combination typically produces results far beyond what business owners achieve on their own.
