Most businesses launch in the wrong order
Here is how a typical launch goes. You build the thing, put up a page, then spend a fortune trying to convince strangers they want it. It is expensive, it is stressful, and quite often it teaches you the hard way that nobody was interested. The whole sequence is backwards.
The smarter order is to earn the interest first, then launch into it. We saw a clean example of this with one of our clients this month. Their new page for a 2027 offering went live with no promotion behind it, and eight people put their names down straight away. No campaign, no ad budget, no convincing. The wanting came before the marketing, not after.
Interest first, launch second
Why the usual order costs you so much
Launching to strangers is the most expensive way to sell anything. You are paying to create awareness, paying again to build trust, and paying a third time to prompt the action, all in the compressed window of a launch, all to people who have never heard of you. No wonder it so often falls flat.
Flip the order and the maths transforms. Warm an audience up slowly over time, and by launch day the awareness and trust are already paid for. All that is left is to open the door and let people through. That is why our client needed no promotion, the expensive groundwork was already behind them.
Do not build an audience for your launch. Launch to an audience you already built.
How to get the order right
The practical version is simple to say and takes patience to do. Long before you have anything to sell, start showing up for the people you eventually want to sell to. Be useful, be present, be worth following. Do that consistently and you are building a group of people who will be glad to hear from you when the moment comes, rather than annoyed by an advert.
By the time you launch, you are not starting a conversation, you are finishing one. That is a far easier, cheaper and more reliable place to sell from than a cold start every single time.
Earn the interest first, and the launch becomes the easy part.
