Marketing · SEO + AI
How SEO really works now that AI is answering the questions
During a strategy call recently, a business owner asked me whether SEO was even worth bothering with anymore, and I completely understood the question, because for a good while it looked like search was quietly fading out.
So is SEO dead?
Quite the opposite, it’s busier than ever.
Search went quiet for a spell, then AI arrived and pulled it right back into the spotlight. We’re doing more SEO now than we have in years, because AI still leans heavily on search to decide what to put in front of people.
Here’s the shift worth understanding. AI pays attention to what other people say about you, alongside everything you say about yourself. That outside signal is where a lot of the new magic happens.
This is why, usually around month three, we run a press release for you. Its real job is to earn backlinks from established websites, often around 300 of them, so the goal reaches well beyond simply getting you into the papers. When AI scans the wider internet and sees all those reputable sites pointing back to you, it reads that as a strong sign you clearly know your field.
People now search with AI in two very different ways
Both of those get won the same way, by handing AI plenty of evidence to work with. That’s exactly why blog posts and case studies carry so much weight right now.
When someone interrogates AI about whether you can help with their situation, it goes looking for proof. On my own site there are more than forty case studies spread across property, healthcare, business, education, gaming, charity and trades, so when AI gets asked can Dan help in healthcare, it can point straight at the evidence and say yes, here’s exactly where he did it.
The businesses winning at AI search are the ones giving it the most proof to repeat.
The same groundwork travels wherever you need to be found, whether you’re climbing the rankings across Leeds or getting picked up around Leicester, because AI is weighing up the same signals of trust and proof in every location.
So SEO hasn’t disappeared, it has grown up.
Feed it strong content, real case studies, and credible backlinks, and you give AI every reason to put your name forward at the exact moment someone is ready to buy.
