How local SEO really works, one page for every service in every town
On a call with a business owner recently, we got into how you actually get found when someone nearby searches for what you do, and the answer is more mechanical, and more winnable, than most people expect.
So how do you rank in your area?
Service plus location, one page at a time.
The backbone of local SEO is beautifully simple. You build a dedicated page for each service you offer in each place you serve. A page for your main service in Manchester, another for the same service in Sheffield, then more for the smaller suburbs around them. Individually these searches are small, and that’s exactly why they’re winnable, hardly anyone else bothers to create them, so you often land at or near the top for the traffic that does come through.
Stack enough of these together, your main services across your town and the surrounding areas, and you quickly have twenty, thirty, forty pages each quietly pulling in people who are looking for what you do, right where you do it.
Two details make or break it. Every page needs its own title and its own meta description, written around that service and location, because the title is one of the strongest signals Google reads. A page titled for the town and the service does far more work than a vague homepage title.
The three pieces that make local SEO click
That last piece, interlinking, is the quiet hero. Your money pages are the few that actually pay the bills, so your location pages and blog posts should keep linking back to them. It tells Google which pages matter most, and it guides visitors toward the exact thing you want them to do next.
The method travels anywhere, whether you’re chasing rankings across Manchester or a specific service around Leicester, you’re simply repeating the same service-plus-location pattern town by town.
You don’t win local search with one clever page. You win it with fifty small pages nobody else could be bothered to build.
So local SEO isn’t a mystery, it’s a system.
Build a page for every service in every place, keep the content fresh, and link it all back to the pages that matter, and you steadily become the name that keeps showing up.
