So, Mondays are always hard – and I was struggling on pretty much everything today.
Warm up
Run 400 metres
- 10 Front Squats
- 10 Strict Overhead Presses
- Run 200 Meters
- 10 Thrusters
Then every minute on the minute (Zero energy available at this point)
- Max reps for 40 seconds Front Squats
- then 40 second v hold (legs and body in a v shape with your butt on the floor)
- then 3 Deadlifts, 2 Hang Power Cleans, 1 Jerk
- then 40 seconds of leg raise hold
THEN the actual workout which was 10 rounds of the following :
- 60 jump ropes
- 8 wall balls (I used a 7kg ball)
- 8 V ups
Which I did in 15 minutes 16 seconds.
Thats basically one round every minute and a halfish – Had to dig deep and find the energy to do it.
And then I saw someone else racing me ![]()
And that’s the reason I do Crossfit.
That competitiveness is what drives a good workout.
And it doesn’t matter what weight you’re doing compared with what weight they’re doing.
Crossfit is the great equaliser when it comes to getting through the workouts with different people at different ages with different abilities, stamina, strength, gender, etc
So I was leading for 95% of it, and then I got beat me to the finish line by 16 seconds.
I know Ive said it a lot of times, but the feeling of being uncomfortable, of pushing myself physically to my own limits is one of the best bits of my day.
It certainly doesn’t feel like it at the time.
But over a longer time period … lets say a few months – and you look at the difference from where you were to where you are … it makes a massive difference.
