Daniel Latto | How Does Your VALUES SYSTEM Affect Your Results

Your values are formed in your early years in what’s called your ‘IMPRINT PERIOD’ – these tend to stay with most people for the rest of their life.

So what this means is that literally, your results are born out of these values that are installed at a young age.

So unless you do some work around these, you’ll tend to get the same results.

There are exceptions of course, and doing things like learning new skills, and learning to focus better and work harder will help, but ultimately it’s your values that affect your results.

So – you can spend the rest of your life trying to make the change, or you can JUST MAKE THE CHANGE.

I see too many people giving up at the first hurdle, giving up because it’s hard, giving up because they’re not a millionaire by week 1 (or even year 6).

These things take time.

Allow yourself to go through them, take the learnings and grow as a person.

Your results will be so much powerful when you let the process happen.

I’ve heard them all.

You’re too stupid
You’re not tall enough
You’re too skinny
You’re too fat
You’re too short
You’re too ginger (yep!)
You don’t know what you’re talking about
You have no experience
You have no clue
You’re an idiot
You’ll fail

Every single one of them – and I’m not alone in this – I’m pretty sure most people have heard these at some point in their life.

And after a while we start to believe them.

But then something happens. Something that makes you go…

No. I am good enough. Let’s do this.

And so you put in the effort, take action and yep, you’ll fail along the way.

But the secret – and it’s a secret because although most people ‘know’ this – they don’t really ‘KNOW’ it – the only think they do – the failures along the way are vital to get you to your success.

So this is what I do.

I take all the NOs that people have given me. I taken all the shit things that people have done to me.

I take them all. Every single one of them.

And I put them in my ‘FUCK YOU’ box.

And then what happens is this.

10 years go by.

And they see you again, with the beautiful wife, and the villa by the Med.

And I go up to them.

And I open the box.

And the FUCK YOUs fly out of that box and float all around them, jabbing their ego until they cant take anymore.

Then I smile. I Close the box. And I leave.

And thats why you should do EXACTLY THE FUCKING SAME !!

Failure.

It can stop us dead in our tracks.

It can lie to us and tell us that we’re not good enough, that our idea sucks, and that maybe, we should just go and get a job.

But remember, failure lies to us.

What it’s really saying is ‘keep going’ and ‘you’re worth it’ and ‘You’ll get there, I’m just testing you’.

So what do we do?

Listen to failure and you will let it dictate your entire future.

Take it by the horns and give it a good telling off, and you can use it to propel your future forward.

Our emotions control how we react to almost everything that happens to us.

Some reactions take place before our emotions are allowed to kick in of course (fight or flight response) but when that initial danger is over, our emotions are whats left to put together how we feel about things.

Sometimes though, our mind forces us to choose perhaps the wrong emotion.

And that emotion can stay with us for quite some time, and we even give them labels like ‘depression’.

This podcast will talk about how you can choose which emotions you want to feel, how to move you out of a negative emotion and into a much more positive emotion.

It’s a pretty cool technique and anyone can do it.

Why Waiting Isn’t The Answer

Sometimes we let our fears do the talking.

 
They prevent us from taking action on the steps that we know we MUST make in order to move forward.
 
Look at it this way – if you know you need to take these actions in order to move forward at some point – and you also know that you WILL actually take these actions (because if you don’t you may as well give up, right?)
 
Then why are you not taking these actions Now ?
 
You know you’re going to do them at some point anyway? So why wait ?
 
I know it’s uncomfortable, but you will be uncomfortable at that point in the future.
 
So all you’re doing is making yourself feel uncomfortable today, instead of a month or a years time.
 
The difference is… That if you take the action you need to take right now, you’ll have progressed your business, or personal life forward and saved yourself a month or a year of wasting time.
 
There’s a technical phrase for this.
 
It’s called :
 
FUCK IT. LETS DO IT.
 
So whatever it is that you’ve been putting off, go and do it.
 
Whatever it is usually isn’t as bad as we think it may be anyway – so just say fuck it, and go get it done.

How to stay motivated

So it’s fine making decisions when you’re as motivated as hell.

I mean, after a Tony Robbins event let’s say (or being drunk is the same), you feel like you can achieve anything.

Then after a few days the reality sets in and suddenly all of those obstacles seem much, much bigger.

So how do you keep yourself motivated then ?

Well it starts off by making sure you have your long term goals in place. Not only that, but the visualisation of those goals is vital.

A visualisation will put you in touch with those goals on a physical/emotional level.

Literally, when you get emotional about how it will FEEL when you have achieved that goal, it creates a physical imprint on your body.

Ever wondered why you’re afraid of that spider ? That’s exactly what’s happening there only in reverse (fear rather than excitement).

How about the next time you get scared about that spider, you get EXCITED by it instead. Feels weird even thinking about that doesn’t it.

So we know then, that in order to bring those long term goals to life, we must not only visualise them, but we must also FEEL exactly what it will feel like, and connect to the emotion surrounding that feeling.

If you imagine what other people would say to you when you achieve that goal, that’s the same thing but just doing a different part of you (self talk instead of how you actually feel)

In addition to longer term goals, you also need some short term ones.

These act as ‘signposts’ along the way. Milestones that you can tick off and place in your little mental box of achievements.

These act as positive anchors along the way so that you can see you’re heading in the right direction.

If you want £1m in the bank, then feeling what it will be like sat in that Ferrari is fine. But you don’t go from broke to £1m without there being successes along the way.

It’s not a switch. Broke. £1m in the bank. If only.

So a few of those milestones may be as follows

1. Earn more than I spend (which means you need to work out how much you spend, and plan accordingly right?)
2. Pay down bad debts (credit cards, loans, anything interest bearing that isn’t a mortgage)
3. Set a target to earn £5,000 a month
4. Set a target to ean £10,000 a month
5. Have a £10,000 day

and so on.

These are gradual steps that you can tick off along the way.

It’s important to point out here that in addition to these RESULTS based goals, you should have some ACTION based goals (these are based around the actions you take – you’re not fussed about the results, because they will eventually come anyway because of the actions)

For example

1. Make 7 videos this week
2. record 2 podcasts this week
3. go LIVE on Facebook twice this week
4. Write 2 articles of 500 words this week
5. Place 5 adverts on various websites this week
6. Comment on other peoples posts in groups (which sets you up as being the expert) twice this week

 

and so on.

Let’s put it this way – lets say you did all of those ACTION based tasks every week for the next 10 weeks – do you think your results would get better compared to having done nothing ?

Of course.

But it can be boring. Repetitive even. So that’s why most people stop.

Or they’re not seeing the immediate results from taking all that action.

So the question now is –

1. what are your long term goals going to be ?
2. What are your short term goals / milestones going to be ?
3. What are the actions that will carry you forward to achieve them ?
